5. Airplane rescue, 'Superman Returns': This movie is widely excepted as incredibly disappointing, but this scene, I felt, truly embodied Superman like no other scene previously scene. His speed, strength, laser vision and willpower were all on display in an amazing visual sequence. This was the highlight of the film for me. Unfortunately, the movie went the way of the airplane after that . . . down in flames.
4. Blade kicks the shit out of Frost's vampire guards in La Magra Temple. The beastial rage was so kickass in this scene, it made you hurt. This scene started out great too, with Blade landing and cutting off the one dude's head with a silver string and grabs his glasses outta the air. Always a fun scene to watch.
3. Joker's pencil trick scene, 'The Dark Knight'. This scene gives me chills still seeing how insane Ledger portals Joker in this scene, he is just a brilliantly ruthless psychopath, and this scene helped set the tone for the entire movie.
2. Wolverine pops his claws for the first time, 'X-Men'. You knew it was coming, but when those claws popped for the first time, and you actually heard that 'Snikt' instead of reading it, it caused nerd-gasims across cinemas everywhere. I'm sure a lot of you were predicting Wolvie to be my number one, but that belongs to . . .
1. Batman vs. Flass, Batman Begins. Flass upside down 30 feet above a dark, rainy alley was a great setup, but when Bale opens his mouth and has the look the would strike fear into any criminal, there is just nothing that embodies these comic heroes better to me. Bale had made Batman the dark vigilante that uses fear to his advantage. All memories of campy West and Clooney were erased and the Dark Knight was finally born. Greatness!
